It was after a lot of talking that Mary-Kate and Ashley had decided to both tryout for NYU's fashion course. It had been their dream since they were 15 to attend a college in NY. This letter would determine wether Mary-Kate, who had already been accepted, went alone or Ashley joined her.
Ashley quickly scanned the letter then looked up at her sister sadly.
" Oh no " Was all Mary-Kate could say. Dissapointment showing clearly on her face.
" I got in! " Ashley screamed.
" YES! " The two hugged then ran to tell their family and friends.
They were going to College in New York City!
Chapter 1:
--Ashley--
It was a sunny September day and with tears and excitement Mary-Kate and I bid our family good-bye. We'd asked them not to go to the airport since we wanted the last memory of our family to be in the place they belonged, our home.
"I'll miss you, Lizzie" I cried as I hugged my little sister.
"I'll miss you too!" Lizzie looked like she was about to cry. But she also had this unnoticable mischevious glint in her eye.
"But you're really looking forward to being the only child at home right?" I asked.
She grinned "You know me so well!"
I hugged her again then hugged Mum and Dad good-bye "I love you" I said to them both, meaning it more then anything.
I took one last look at my home then joined Mary-Kate in the taxi that was waiting to take her and I to the airport, and to our whole new life!
--Mary-Kate--
I couldn't hold back tears any longer. They ran down her cheeks freely. I glanced back one last time.
This was the home I'd grown up in. The family I loved more then anything in the world. And now I'm leaving them, probably forever!
I glanced over at Ashley. At least I don't have to leave them all behind. Ashley smiled at me and we looked forward together. Forward to our biggest adventure ever!
--Josh--
"OH NO!" I yelped.
I sped his car toward the airport not caring if a policemen saw me or not
"NO! NO! NO! I can't be late!" I slammed my hands against the steering wheel and wished the car would go faster.
Finally reaching my destination. The airport parking lot I parked the car, locked it and raced inside the terminal (A friend would come pick it up later). Letting out a sigh of relief I saw that I'd made it just in time.
I handed over my ticket, boarded the plane, sat down, and let out the biggest sigh of relief ever!
Looking out the window I took one last look at my home town. Chicago. The plane took off and soon the lights of the city were mere dots, like glitter on the floor. Then they were nothing. And I'm on my way! On my way to a whole new life!
In New York City!

"Bye Mum! I love you" With one final wave I boarded the train. I can't believe I'm doing this.
Living our my dream. College in New York City.
I have no idea what to expect. Who to expect.
After all I'm moving from a small town in Connecticut to NEW YORK CITY!
Yeah, ok so I'm obsessed with NEW YORK CITY!
I sat down and prepared for... NEW YORK CITY!
--Mary-Kate--
"Well were here better get on the plane" I said as I climbed from the cab and walked into the airport with Ashley.
I can't believe it!!! This is it!!!
"I cant believe were really going no turning back now" Ashley said.
Weird. I giggled slightly.
"What?" Ashley said
"I was just thinking the same thing as you" I informed her.
--Micheal--
"Wait who are you?" I yelled.
I was running through a forest and sweating the hardest I ever had. I was chasing a beautiful girl, I couldn't see her hair color as she was wearing a hat, and I couldn't see her face since she was running away from me. Suddenly she dissapeared.
"Sir sir..." I was woken by someone calling the word 'sir' over and over.
Can you say annoying?
I shot up "Sorry i must have been dreaming" I said quickly.
"Thats ok. We're here everyone is leaving please get your bags and move along" The lady said.
"Well that was embarassing!" I couldn't help but say.
A little boy across the aisle pointed at me "Look Mummy he's talking to himself"
The mother just kept reading her magazine and since she wasn't looking I made a face at the kid (not the scary kind. Instead a funny face) the kid laughed.
I smiled as I got off the train and looked around. NEW YORK CITY!!!
I took a breath. It even smelt different. What was that smell? Ah, Pizza. There'a a Pizza shop up the road.
Guess where I'm headed!

I'm so hungry I feel like I'm going to die!
I got a cheap airfair because the plain doesn't offer food or entertainment. I THOUGHT saving money was a good idea.
I climbed out of a taxi near the train station. One sniff of the air brought me a familiar odor.
Pizza!!!
I followed the smell and found my way to a small, cozy, pizza store. And, as I was to find, to a new friend.
Chapter 2:
---Josh---
I looked around the resturant. Typical new york! It was extremely busy. There were no empty tables left..
I spotted a guy sitting at a table for 3. I'm not one to interrupt but...
I walked over "Excuse me? Is it ok if I sit here? There aren't any seats left" I said as I glanced around the room one last time.
"Yeah sure" The boy nodded and I pulled out a seat.
---Ashley---
"...Please put your seat in an upright position and prepare for landing" Was the first thing ( heard when Mary-Kate poked me in the side to wake me.
"Aughhhh" Mary-Kate said stretching "Didnt that seem like the longest ride ever?"
"Actually i thought it was quite quick" I responded. Of course I had slept through half of it...
"Ladies and Gentlemen we are now in New York please..." The overhead voice continued.
"Yeah, yeah we know the drill" Mary-Kate said. "Oh boy do we!"
That's right.. flying always makes her cranky. Greeeeeat!
---Josh---
"So do you live in New York?" I asked my tablemate.
"I just moved here today" He responded around a mouthful of pizza.
"Really? So did I" I said amazed.
"Wow!"
"I'm going to NYU. You?"
"Me too!" he looked as if he were going to fall off his chair with surprise.
"This is too weird" I shook my head.
"Which dorm are you?"
"House 1. Dorm 5"
"You gotta be kidding!?" Now he definitely looked as if he'd fall of his chair "That's my dorm!"
"We're roomies!"
"This is too cool!" He said as we highfived.
"You wanna head over to the school?" I asked. I was really looking forward to getting started with this adventure.
"Yeah. Hey, maybe we will meet some chicks" Michael said with a wink.
I laughed.
He was right though. We'd both meet some 'chicks'. Girls unlike any we'd met before...
---Ashley---
"Woah! This place is big!" I yelped as I surveyed the University campus before me. It was actually kind of intimidating.
Sure I'd seen it before... but something about moving here made it look so different!
"I know! Come on lets go to our rooms." Mary-Kate took a piece of paper out of her bag. "I'm house 2. Room 6 and you're room 7."
"Cool. If we can't be roomies at least we're next door to each other"
"Yup!" Mary-Kate looked extremely nervous herself.
At least I'm not the only one.
---Mary-Kate---
"Augh! why did i bring so much stuff" I grumbled to myself as I dragged my suitcase into my dorm.
"Dont feel bad alot of girls do" A voice from from behind me said with a laugh.
"Woah you scared me!" I laughed
The girl smiled "Hi, I'm melanie burg" She walked over and the shook hands
"I'm Mary-Kate Olsen" I said with what I hoped was a confident smile.
"Olsen as in the famous olsen twin?" Melanie asked, looking kind of surprised.
"Yeah" I glanced away. I hate it when people want to know me cause of my fame.
"Wow thats so cool wait til my younger sis here she loves you!" Melanie said happily.
I forced a smile "I'm guessing were roomies?"
"Yeah" Melanie said "Want me to show you the campus?"
Well, at least she's friendly!
Hmmm, I wonder what Ashley's roomate will be like...
Chapter 3:
---Ashley---
"Do you want to come see the campus with us?" Melanie asked me. Until then I'd kind of been sitting in the corner observing Mary-Kate meeting her roomate.
"That's ok. I better go find my dorm" I waved to te two and went in search of it.
"Lets see. Room 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.." I said quietly to myself as I passed the different doors. "6,...7. Here it is! " I knocked and since no one answered went inside.
---Micheal---
"Wow this place is so huge" I said in awe.
"Yeah i know" Josh said as he glanced around the college campus.
"I'm gonna go to the dorm" I said.
"Ok i think ill go talk to the dean"
"Ok I'll catch up with you later" I said with a smile.
We split up and I started walking, as I did so I started whistling and daydreaming, not looking where I was going. As it seemed neither were the girls walking towards me.
"OW!" Yelped one of the girls as I walked right into her.
"I' sorry I'm so sorry" I repeated as I sat up and hit my head.
The girl sat up too "It's ok" She said dusting herself off.
Woah she's cute!
"I'm Mary-Kate" She said with a smile as she extended a hand.
--Ashley--
I was unpacking my bags when there was a loud and insistent knock at my door.
"Come in" I called.
A red headed girl stuck her head in the door "Who are you?" She asked me rather rudely.
"Ashley" Ashley answered "Your room mate."
"Nuh-uh! I don't HAVE a room mate" She said shaking her head emphatically.
"Then you must be in the rong room"
"Nope. This is the right room" She sighed angrily "I'm going to administration!" She turned and flounced from the room, slamming the door behind her.
"Wow, she was nice" Ashley thought sarcastically.
Daddy's little brat moving into the real world. A scary thing!
---Josh---
I was walking back from the Deans office when a girl stormed past him. A very angry look on his face.
Someone got up on the wrong side of the bed!
I made my way to my room and looked around "Spacious!" I declared sarcastically.
The dorm had two cupboard sized rooms and a lounge area. Looking around I found Michael hadn't gotten there yet.
Strange. He was heading here immediately. Oh well! I get first choice or rooms!
I started towards the first one to see what it was like but was interrupted by the phone.
"Hello?" I asked, wondering who it could be. I'd been given the phone number a few weeks earlier and most people in my family had it, but it's kind of strange for them to be ringing already..
"Joshy!" I moaned at the familiar nickname
"Hi Mom. What's up?"
"I was just ringing to say your car should be there by tomorrow"
"Tomorrow? Who did we hire to drive it again. A track racer?"
She laughed "Love you Joshy"
"Love you too Mom" I hung up the phone and went back to choosing a room.
---Ashley---
I looked around my newly decorated room and smiled in approval. I stood up from where I'd been sitting putting clothes in drawers. "Ow," I squeaked feeling a pain in her foot which had gone to sleep "Time for a walk" I decided.
Once outside I breathed in the fresh air. Then started to choke.
Well as fresh as New York air can be.
I grinned. "I LOVE IT HERE!" I almost yelled.
---Ashley---
A quick survey of the campus quickly found Mary-Kate. I waved to her and she waved back, motioning for me to joing her. I did so.
" Hey Ashley, this is Michael " Mary-Kate said introducing me to the boy who I only just then noticed.
" Hi " I said with a smile. Then gave Mary-Kate a look which clearly said '15 minutes on campus and you already met a cute guy?!'
Mary-Kate smiled.
---Micheal---
"Hi" I said as I shook Ashley's hand.
Twins?
Hmmm, they look kind of familiar.
Mary-Kate gave Ashley what I figured must have been a 'get lost' look and Ashley smirked.
"I just wanted to see how you were doing but now I'm gonna go get something to eat" Ashley quickly made her exit.
Mary-Kate smiled and mouthed 'Thank-You' as Ashley walked off.
---Ashley---
Well so much for that! I can certainly tell when I'm not wanted. But now what?
Hmm, why not explore New York City? I definitely have the urge to shop!
"Ahhh I love New York!" I said to m yself as I walked down the sidewalk looking for a good shop to go in. "OOOH! Goochi! I love that place!"
The other people on the sidewalk must have thought me insane, constantly talking to myself and all.
I was just about to walk inside the big store when what sounded like a bunch of young girls screaming attacked my ears.
OH NO!
I turned to see a bunch of 'tweens' running toward me screaming 'ASHLEY! ASHLEY! WE LOVE YOU!"
I took off running as quick as I could.
IS ANYWHERE SAFE FROM THEM?!?
Chapter 4:
---Micheal---
"So would you like to go get something to eat" I asked Mary-Kate.
"Sure!" She said enthusiastically then remembering her friend turned to her "Do you want to come?"
Melanie quickly assessed the situation "Actually.. I think I might go back to the dorm"
"OK" Mary-Kate smiled.
"I think there is a little cafe right down the rode we dont even have to call a cab" I said to her as we started walking.
"Great!" Mary-Kate said with BIG smile.
We started walking and were soon passed by Ashley running at full speed.
"Fans!" She gasped as she ran.
Mary-Kate and I turned to see a lot of young girls running towards us.
Ok, this is weird!
Mary-Kate grabbed my hand " RUN! " She screamed.
"Whats - Going - On!" I panted as I ran.
"Were -Getting - Mobbed -Sorry!!!!!" Mary-Kate responded.
Mobbed??
We cut into the college driveway.
"In here!" Ashley called and the we ran for her dorm and locked the door.
"WOW!" I said in shock "What was that about?"
The two looked at me, stunned. "You mean you don't know who we are?"
---Michael---
"Course I know who you are! Lets see you're Marykate" I pointed to her "And you're Ashley?" I pointed to Ashley. The girls laughed.
"Add olsen on to the end and you've got it right." Mary-Kate said "Ever watch full house?"
I stared at her "I knew you were familiar!" I exclaimed finally catching on.
---Josh---
I paid the guy who had driven my car to New york then drove downtown.
I've been here two days now and discovered something. I can't stand the food they sell on the College Campus! It's disgusting!
So I'm off to do some grocery shopping!
"Yum" I grinned as I picked up a slab of chocolate and put it in the shopping cart. I've been shopping for 10 minutes so far and already the shopping cart is full of junk food! Every kind you could imagine.. Pizza, chocolate, Ice Cream, Chips..
When I was buying it I glanced at my watch and realized. "Oh man! I'm late" I quickly grabbed the bags and raced to the car. My first class starts in fifteen minutes and I'm at least that far from the campus!
---Ashley---
"Oh I missed you!" I said as I put my car key in the ignition.
Ok, so I'm talking to my car... well... we're really close! He gets lonely without me and we've been apart for a few days now...
I glanced back to make sure no one was coming then backed out. CRASH!!! Something plowed into the back of the car and I was thrown at the Steering wheel, just hard enough to hurt.
I leapt out of my car and ran around the back to see that a blue convertible had driven right into the back light. "YOU IDIOT!" I shouted. "You must have been doing 120 kph!!! IN A PARKING LOT!"
The guy glanced out the window looking kind of dazed.
---Josh---
I may have been a bit disorrientated from the accident but I couldn't help but noticed how pretty the girl standing in front of me was. But the fact remained that as always I was late. "I'm sorry I have to go." I turned the car and went to park it in an empty lot across from her.
"WAIT RIGHT THERE!" The girl shouted, quite loudly considering how small she was and with quite a bit authority. Enough to make me stop. "What about my car?!" She asked angrily, pointing at it.
I glanced over at the car which had a back light totally destroyed and quite a big dent. "I HAVE to go!" I said exasperatedly.
"This is your fault Mr. What are you going to do about it?"
Sighing frustratedly I grabbed a piece of notepaper from the glovebox and scibbled my dorm name on it.
---Ashley---
"Here" The guy threw the piece of paper at me. "It's my name and room. Contact me there"
And with that (And a screech of tires) he was gone.
"How RUDE!" I couldn't help but borrow the phrase from my tv big sister. I stomped back to her car and parked it. Somehow I don't feel like going for a drive right now.
---Josh---
I felt rather mean about what I'd done to the girls car but well, well, she, um,... She should have looked around more. Yeah, lame excuse, I know. It was all my fault. She had looked, but I'd been going so fast I'd turned up after she looked but before she backed out.
Man, she was demanding and... loud! That's definitely something I don't like in girls.
I'll pay for the damage. And hopefully that's the last time I ever see her.
But I right now I should pay attention to this lecture.
---Ashley---
I checked the piece of paper one more time before knocking on the dorm door. It swung open and I was quiet surprised to see Michael.
"Ashley! Hi!" He recognized me immediately.
I smiled. This guys really nice. Hopefully he and Mary-Kate will get together. If they do he'll be the first of my sisters boyfriends I actually like!
"Hi!" I said with a smile. "Do you have a room-mate?"
"He should be back in a few minutes. Why?"
"The idiot drove into my car!" I exclaimed angrily
"Let me guess he was late?"
"Well, he did seem to be rushing off to something!
Michael shook his head with a laugh.
"It's not funny!" I said indignantly.
Just then Josh turned up...
"YOU!" I said pointing at him "YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR THE DAMANGE DONE TO MY CAR!"
"Hey man," Michael said "Meet Ashley"
Chapter 5:
I raced across the campus to the guys dorm and knocked on the door.
---Michael---
I'd waited for 10 minutes for Mary-Kate to turn up, she didn't. The minute I got in the door I was greeted by Josh.
"She stood you up didn't she? Like twin, like twin!"
I glared at him. A glare that could have killed him on the spot. Like a dog with his tail between his legs he retreated to his room and I to mine. A few minutes later I heard a knock on the door. Feeling to depressed to answer, I left it to Josh.
"Ashley! What are you - Wait you're not Ashley?" I heard Josh say.
"I'm Mary-Kate. Is Michael here?"
"Um, yeah, but I don't think he wants to talk to you" I could tell Josh was just itching to shut the door in her face.
"No wait" I said walking into the room just as Josh was about to close the door.
"Hi Michael" Mary-Kate said to me, looking guilty. "Listen, I'm really sorry. I fell asleep and when I woke up I was late. And I'm sooo sorry"
"You mean you didn't purposely stand me up?"
"What? No way!" She shook her head so hard she got dizzy and had to lean on the door jam.
---Mary-Kate---
I was sooo relieved Michael forgave me! I'd only known the guy for like, 24 hours. But already I reeeeally liked him. I'm just kind of worried about what Ashley's gonna say. But right now we're out on our date, so forget her.
"You should have heard Josh when I said I was going to ask you out" Michael was talking to me, I decided I better pay attention. "He like totally freaked. I'm sure he'd really like you and all. Just he and Ashley don't get on too well"
"That's an understatement" I said with a laugh "And I'm pretty sure Ashley will have the same reaction he did when I tell her I went out with you"
"It's a shame really"
"Why?"
"They're sooo alike! If it hadn't been for him driving into her, they could have been the best of friends. Maybe even more"
"Yeah" I said pondering it.
---Ashley---
I walked to the boys door and knocked. It was soon opened by Josh. Who then tried to close it again.
"Don't you dare close this door on me!" I said firmly, wedging my foot inside..
He ACTUALLY listened!
"What do you want?" I cried exasperatedly.
I handed him my lawyers card. "Your lawyer can contact me here."
---Josh---
I glanced down at the card in shock. She wasn't serious was she? But, I could tell by the look on her face she was.
"Fine!" I yelled "I'll give you the dumb money" I stormed inside the dorm and looked for my wallet. That amount of money was gonna totally blow my semesters spending money. But a lawyer would cost even more. Great! Now I'll have to get a job. I found the wallet got out the money and gave it to her.
"Thank-you"
"You're NOT welcome"
She just glared at me, spun around, her hair just narrowly missing hitting me in the face. And walked off.
'Women' I muttered under my breath and closed the door firlmy.
--Ashley--
'Men!' I muttered as I walked down the hall. I glanced at the money in my hand. Well, I've got it now. At least I won't ever have to see that annoying jerk again. I went back to my room. I walked inside and...
"What on earth happened here?" I shouted looking around the room. Which was almost entirely decorated in black.
"Like it?" My sarcastic, grouchy roomate said with strange smile.
"It's hideous!"
"Well, go complain to administration. Of course they won't listen to you. I should know" she walked into her room.
Her name is Nikola and somehow she got the idea that she would be having a single room. So, when she found out she didn't. She, well, to say the least didn't like it. And definitely didn't like me!
I sighed and walked into my room. Closing the door firmly behind me.

"I had a really great time today" I said to Michael as we walked back onto the University campus.
"Me too" He said with a smile.
We stopped outside my dorm door. I could hear the sound of music playing. I smiled. Melanie sure loved music. In fact, that's what she planned for her future. To be a singer. I truly believe she can do it. I glanced over at Michael, suddenly nervous. Was he going to kiss me?
