Chapter 6:
---Mary-Kate---
"What now?" I asked willing myself not to panick, something I was failing at miserably.
Ashley's hand flew to the gearstick but it was shaking so much she was unable to get the car in reverse. I leaned over and did it for her. She then floored the gas and we reversed then turned around.
"Have you still got your cellphone?" She asked as we ascended into the mountains.
I nodded and got if from my bag. My hands trembled as I dialed the numbers 9-1-1. It seemed like forever but finally a person answered. I explained what was going on.
"Mary-Kate!" Ashley interrupted a moment or two later, an urgency in her voice. I glanced up, the road had run out! "We gotta make a run for it" Ashley said opening her door and getting out. I followed suit, grabbing my jacket first though. We started into the forrest just as the black car rounded the corner and came into sight.
"RUN!" I called. We did so. I slipped the phone into m pocket. The police were on the way. All we had to do now was avoid the dark cars occupants for as long as possible...
---Michael---
I groaned as Melanie dragged me into, like, the tenth store of the day.
"Oooh!" She squealed picking up some hair thing "Isn't this cute?"
I raised an eyebrow "Cute?! Nu-uh! You're cute that thing is just.... hideous!"
She pouted for a moment then picked up another equelly hideous thing "How about this?"
I acted like I was choking.
"Fine!" she said "You pick something, Mr. Fashion professional!"
"But, I don't want anything!"
"For me silly! I need a new scrunchie" She pointed to a display of scrunchies.
"Fine!" I said marching over to them "This" I said picking up a plain black one.
She took it from and me and looked it over "Youa re so.. male!" She said putting it back.
"Definition?" I asked acting offended.
"Boring!" She retaliated. She picked up a blue polka dotted scrunchie. "I'll get this one"
I shrugged "Your funeral"
I was rewarded with a glare..
--Zac--
The phone ran and I literally pounced on it. Only 3 or something days and I missed Mary-Kate SO much!
"Hello?" I asked swiping my hair out of my face and settling on the sofa.
"Z-zac?" It was Mary-Kate. He voice was trembling and it sounded like she was running.
"What's wrong?" I asked sitting forward on the sofa. I had a really bad feeling in my stomach.
"The car I told you about... they followed us up this abandoned road... I'm really scared!"
My hand clutched the phone reciever so hard I expected the plastic to break. She needed me and there was nothing I could do.
"Where are you?" I asked.
She told me the name of the town they'd just left.
"I'm coming Mary-Kate! I'll find you!"
"Please hurry!" She said, desperation in her voice.
"They're almost here!" I heard Ashley say "Hide the phone!"
"Zac I gotta go. I love you!"
I had only had time to tell her I loved her too and then the phone went dead.
Chapter 7:
|
---Josh---
"Hey Amy" I said from my spot leaning against the door outside her class.
She turned at the mention of her name, her brown wavy hair flying around her shoulders "Hi Josh" She said with a smile "'Sup?"
"Just... hanging out" I said casually
"Oh ok" she said equelly casually" And you just you know... happened to be 'hanging out' right outside my classroom" She said with a knowing smile.
"What a coincedence!" I said pushing away from the wall and walking over to her.
She just smiled all the more "Wanna go for a coffee?"
"Love too!"
---Melanie---
"Can we go? NOW!?" Michael whined as I payed for a sweater.
"I guess" I glanced down at the shopping bags full of stuff I'd brought "I've probably got enough stuff"
"More then enough!" He said grabbing my hand and pulling me out the door "Now let's go!"
I sighed and followed him out of the store.
---Zac---
I was in my car driving past the NYC dorms when I realized something.
I was going to the middle of nowhere (no pun intended) to save my fiancee from who knows what kind of people... ENTIRELY ON MY OWN!
I picked up my cellphone and dialed Josh's number. Never more thankful the twins had insisted I learn it (dont' ask me why!)
"Hey Man it's Zac" I said when he answered "The twins are in trouble"
---Ashley---
The two guys crashed through the forrest and approached Mary-Kate and I. It seemed no matter how much we run, they kept closing the distance between us.. until there was none left.
"Let go of me you creep!" I yelled as one of them grabbed my arm. Out of the corner of my eyes I saw the other grab Mary-Kate.
I expected them to take us back to the car but instead they continued up into the mountains. Af first Mary-Kate and I struggled against them but then decided it was useless and best to save our energy.
"We have the twins. They helped us out a little. Started right up into the mountains" One guy said to someone on a walkie talkie "We're headed for the cabin now"
Cabin?
---Josh---
"I'm really sorry Amy" I said getting up from the table "Two of my friends are in trouble and I gotta go"
"Is there anything I can do to help?" She asked getting up too.
"pray" I said before running out of the cafe and back to the dorms where I'd agreed to meet Zac
***
"Lets go" I said running over to Zac's car and getting in
"Should we try to contact Michael?" He asked
I shook my head "He's out with Melanie it'll be ages before they're back"
Before I'd even finished my sentence Zac had pulled the car away from the curb and started off.
We were on our way...
I only hoped the girls were ok.
Chapter 8:
|
---Mary-Kate---
"It's C-c-cold" I shivered rubbing my hands together for warmth.
Ashley nodded in agreement. "I'm really hungry too"
"Hey you!" I said calling out to the two men. "You plan on feeding us?"
After capturing us we'd traveled a LONG way till we reached a cabin. Ashley and I were now tied up in the corner and the two men where whispering at the other side of the cabin.
"If you'd shut up and stop complaining we might!" One guy said angriy.
I glared at him then turned to Ashley "We've got to get out of here!" I whispered desperately.
She just shook her head "I've been trying to think of a way but I can't come up with anything. Have you still got the cell phone?"
I nodded and motioned to my pocket.
"Good. We'll have to wait till they leave the cabin for a few minutes then we can call the police and tell them where we are"
"But we don't know where we are"
"Roughly" she answered "We must have covered about 3 mountain ridges to the left of where our car was... They must have found the car by now..."
"I hope so"
I looked out the window. It was starting to get dark.
---Zac---
"Lets see. The girls had been travelling 3 days to get to their current location. That's with stops. If we take turns driving and keep going through the night. We could probably get their in half the time"
Josh nodded but didn't turn from the road (he was driving). "Sounds good"
I looked out the window and watched as the scenery flew by. Night was getting closer "They must be really scared" I observed out loud.
"They know we're coming"
---Michael---
I glanced at the clock. It was midnight and Josh still hadn't appeared at the dorm. I was getting kind of worried. This wasn't like him. I decided to call him.
"Hello?" A person answered but it wasn't Josh.
"Zac?" I asked surprised.
"Yeah."
"What's going on?"
"The girls were kidnapped. Josh and I are going to see if we can help"
"You're kidding?!" I said collapsing onto the couch. "Where are you now?"
"Just out of new york"
"Why didn't you tell me you were going?"
"We wanted to but you were out. Look don't worry. Mary-Kate called the police, I'm sure they'll find them."
"If you're so sure of that why are you going?"
"I couldn't sit and do nothing"
"Neither can I!"
He sighed "Sorry Michael I gotta go. We're stopping to get some dinner"
I sighed too "Ok. Good luck!"
"Thanks"
---Ashley---
The two guys finally left the cabin. "Quick!" I said to Mary-Kate. She fished her cell phone out and dialded 9-1-1 and reported what had happened. She then called Zac.
"We really don't have time for that!" I insisted.
"I have to!" She said trying to hold back tears. "Zac?" She said "..We're ok.... yeah... they took us to some cabin up in the mountains... you are?... Thank God"
"They're coming" I hissed from where I'd been watching through what part of the window I could see through.
"I gotta go. I love you!" She said quickly hanging up and stuffing the phone in her pocket. Just in time too. The two men walked in the door seconds later.
Chapter 9:
---Josh---
Zac sighed and flipped his mobile phone shut.
"What'd she say?" I asked impatiently.
"They're ok. The people who kidnapped them took them to some cabin in the mountains. She didn't have time to say anything else..." he trailed off
I re-focused my attention on driving. We had to get there as soon as possible. They needed us!
---Malenie---
I was awoken, early the next day, by the phone ringing. It took me a moment to work out where I was, even who I was and then I pounced out of bed and in to the other room.
I let out a sigh when I got there. The phone wasn't ringing anymore. And not because the person had hung up. No! Jesse had answered.
"What are you doing up so early?!" I said under my breath sitting down on the coach.
"Yes she's here... I'll get here" Jesse said to whoever he was talking to.
He went to hand the phone to me, but when I reached for it he pulled it back "What's the magic word?"
"Gimme the phone!" I hissed angrily.
"Nu-uh! First you gotta say please"
"You are the most annoying creature on the earth" I continued angrily. Early in the morning was really not best time to give me a lesson in manners. I had even less patience then usual..
"Unless they've changed it, that didn't sound like please to me.."
"PLEASE!"
He handed me the phone "You're welcome"
I just stuck my tongue out at him and put the phone to my ear.
---Ashley---
I woke up and stretched my hands above my head.
"Ow!" Someone mumbled.
I looked around trying to work out where I was. Mary-Kate was next to me, rubbing her eye where my hand had hit her. It hit me then.
The kidnapping.. the cabin.
I'd been hoping it was all just a nightmare..
---Michael---
I was rudely awoken by the phone ringing. I sat up and rubbed my eyes tiredely (sp?) I'd been up most of the night worring about Mary-Kate and Ashley.
"Hello?" I said into the receiver.
"I GOT IN!"
"huh? Melanie?" I said still not totally awake.
"The group! The auditions! I GOT IN!!!" She exlaimed happily.
"YOU DID?!" I asked/exclaimed when I finally got what she was trying to say, in her garbled excited english.
"I can't believe it! I'm so happy!" She gushed.
"Wow" was all I could say.
I was happy for her. Really I was. But I couldn't help but wonder. My girlfriend was going to be a part of the next big pop sensation...
What did that mean for our relationship?
Chapter 10:
|
---Melanie---
I hung up the phone with a sigh. I could tell Michael was kind of unhappy with the popstar thing. But, there wasn't anything I could do about it. This was my dream and I was going to live it wether he liked it or not.
---Ashley---
Being stuck in that cabin was the most boring thing in the world! I'd actually taken to counting the cracks in the ceiling!
"59, 60..." I said to myself quietly. I was lying on the cabin floor looking up at the ceiling counting. "61"
Just then the front door opened interrupting my counting. I sat up quickly. Who could this be? The two guys who'd kidnapped us were over in the corner so it wasn't them.
A rather cute guy who looked about 22 walked into the room and glanced at Mary-Kate and I. He then walked over to the two men in the corner.
"Hey Dad" He said to one of the men.
Dad? This was interesting..
The two said some more after that but since they were talking so quietly I didn't catch anything. After awhile I got tired of straining to hear and went back to counting the cracks on the roof.
"70, 71-" I whispered to myself.
I heard foosteps approaching me and sat up again. The guy walked over to me and knelt on the floor in front of me. "I'm Aaron" he said.
I didn't answer.
"Look, I just want you to know... I hate that this is happening to you and your sister. ..I wish I could help but I can't. I'd be going against my father and I learnt a long time ago that that's not a good idea"
"Whatever" I said angrily turning away from him.
He sighed and left the cabin after that.
So one of the kidnappers had a son? A son who didn't agree with what they were doing. A son who seemed really nice. Maybe we have an ali here...
I sure hope so.
---Josh---
Zac was driving, and I was staring out the window trying to distract myself from what was going on, when the cell phone rang. I grabbed it quickly and flipped it open.
"Hello?"
"Josh!?" It was Ashley.
"Areyouguysok? What'shappening?" I asked in a rush.
"The guys left the cabin for a few minutes. I got the feeling they're meeting someone. Mary-Kate and I are trying to think of a way to escape but so far we haven't found anything. And what are you doing on the phone?" she finished.
"Zac and I are coming to help you" I realized this was the longest Ashley and I had talked since we broke up. Wow.
"YOU'RE helping me?" She asked surprised.
"Ashley I'm hurt" I said "Of course I'd help"
"I gotta go they're coming back" Click. She hung up.
"Well?" Zac propted.
I informed him of everything she'd told me.
We still didn't have much to go on...
---Mary-Kate---
The kidnappers re-appeared at the cabin then disappeared just as quickly. Ashley picked up the phone and went to dial when the door suddenly opened, leaving her with no time to hide it. It was Aaron...
"Where did you get that?" He asked us.
We chose not to answer the question.
"Please don't tell!" Ashley begged.
He moved toward us, looking like he was going to take the cell phone. Then he paused. "I'm an idiot" he said to himself.
Ashley and I glanced at each other. Interesting statement. What on earth was he talking about?!
He knelt down next to us and began to untie the ropes that kept us stuck in the cabin.
Oh...
