Two of a Kind #9: Calling all boys
It's the girls first week at Boarding School! And their Dad gave them a mobile phone! Though strictly ONLY FOR EMERGENCIES. But when the girls need dates for the Sadie Hawkins date they end up using their phones. But then every other girl at the school wants them to call their crushes on their mobile. They're really not supposed to, but they really want to make friends!
Neat book! The girls get themselves in quite a bit of trouble when they persist in doing something they shouldn't! It's an enjoyable read and the little illustrations are really cool. As always I love the whole Diary entry theme!
So Little Time #4: Just Between us
Loosely based on the So Little Time Episodes Manuelo in the Middle Part 1 and 2!
For a school project the girls must bring to school and adult they admire. They don't want their parents cause they're sure they'll fight. So they bring supermodel Tedi and their Nanny Manuelo. Manuelos a hit! But then the family don't include him in a family portrait and really hurt his feelings. And to their shock he quits!
A really cool book! Probably the best So Little Time book I've read so far. A good message about not taking people for granted. Also about when to keep quiet and when to speak about certain things. Also I only just noticed but the SLT books are in a cool font, not the normal Times New Roman, they make it a lot easier and fun to read!
Two of a Kind #11: P.S. Wish you were here
Mary-Kate and Ashley have been seperated! Ashley stayed at White Oak Academy while Mary-Kate went home. And now they're both in trouble and wishing they had their sister! Ashleys cousin stole her book report and handed it in at his school, and Ashleys sure they'll get caught! Mary-Kate is trying to juggle softball and a role in Peter Pan, she's finding it difficult and the lack of support from her friends only makes it worse!
I loved this book! It would be my favorite so far. Really well written and the plot was really cool. I totally recommend it as my favorite yet!
Two of a Kind #10: Winner Take all
The two of a Kind diaries are really cool. First off they're written in first person which totally rocks. Second they are of course diaries, equipped with cute little doodles. Really cool! Plus they're longer then the previous Two of a Kind books. In this book Ashley is doing a gossip column for the school paper, but when she tells everyone a secret about her twin sister she finds herself in a lot of trouble. A good subject. Ashley is so wrapped up with becoming popular she hurts her own sister and learns a big lesson in the process
So Little Time 1: How to Train a boy
Loosely based on the So Little Time Episode 'Dog Day Afternoon'.
To me, the So Little Time books are a lot more realistic then the series. The books have the diversity of more characters, something the series lacked. In the series, Larry and various crushes were the only 'friends' the twins had. More characters outside of the family would have added a lot. This particular book was good.. my personal taste is for something a little more zany and less traditional with a little more life. But check it out! You'll probably enjoy it
So Little Time 2: Instant Boyfriend
Loosely based on the So Little Time Episode 'The Breakfast Club'.
Riley and Chloe are hoping to have a party on Saturday. They haven't actually asked yet but that's not a problem right? Chloe is trying to get detention so she can ask Travis. Riley likes Alex, only problem is he thinks she and Larry are dating. And Chloe tries to give the new girl a make over. A very quick read but reasonably entertaining. Will probably entertain the 'tween' age group the most
Two of a Kind 2: How to Flunk Your First Date
Loosely based on the Two of a Kind episode 'The Tutor'
Mary-Kate has fallen behind in her maths. So instead of playing basketball she has sessions with a tutor every day. That's bad for Mary-Kate, but for Ashley it's great. She has a humongous crush on Ashleys tutor! Now if only she could spend time with him and Ashley could go to basketball. Hmm, maybe a switch is in order? Meanwhile, Carrie thinks Kevin should start dating again. And she plans on helping (and pushing) him as much as possible!
Written for an age group of about 8-12, this book is really cute. A very quick read with not even 100 pages. But still worth reading. It very much mirrors the episode it was based on and you can imagine the actors playing the part. I definitely recommend it
Two of a Kind 3: The Sleepover Secret
Ashleys having a sleepover, and surprisingly the most popular girl in school decides she wants to come! But when during a game of truth and dare, Mary-Kate admits she'd kissed a boy (before Ashley ever has) things go sour..
The never ending quest for popularity. And the desperate measures we'll go to to gain it. A cool story, and thankfully Ashley realizes a mistake she was about to make before she makes it.
Two of a Kind 4: One twin too many
Ashley likes a boy called Pokey. Which is great. Until Pokey asks Mary-Kate on a date. Uh-oh, will a boy come between these two best friends?
Really cute. I'm sure many people can relate to the problems romance can cause between syblings and friends. The ever wonderful love triangle. Quick and easy to read story, funny in places. I especially liked this "You're already planning to marry him?" Mary-Kate. "Well it wasn't my idea "Ashley argued "We were talking about weird namess and he said 'try living with Pokey for awhile' - "So?" Mary-Kate asked - "He asked me to try LIVING with his name! Doesn't that sound like a proposal of marriage to you?"
