The Rising of Two Stars:

Born on June 13, 1986 in Los Angeles, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen have been stars since they were nine months old. For the first eight years of their life they shared the role of Michelle Tanner on Full House. With cute catch phrases like "You got it dude!", they were the stars of the show. After realizing how popular his daughters were, their father hired a lawyer. Robert Thorne then came into their life. He soon had the twins making $25,000 an episode.

In 1992 the girls made the T.V. movie "To Grandmothers House We Go". This was their first experience in seperate rolls. It made the Nielson Top Ten. Later came another movie, "Double Double Toil and Trouble".

At six years old, the girls recorded their first album, " Brother for Sale". it sold 325 million copies. Mary-Kate said " It was seriously the longest thing I've ever done in my life!"

The video and book series "The Adventures of Mary-Kate and Ashley" came out in 1994. Robert Thorne came up with the idea.

Later on in 1994 they made another T.V. movie "How the West Was Fun". The movie was produced with their own company "Dualstar Entertainment"

When One Door Closes, Another One Opens

In 1995 Full House was canceled. After airing nine seasons the producers decided they wanted a more mature audience; Full House didn't bring that.

After being divorced for quite some time their father remarried to his co-worker Mackenzie in 1996. Fortuately Mary-Kate and Ashley got along with her. Recently they had two children, Taylor a new halfsister for Mary-Kate and Ashley and Jake a new halfbrother.

Also in 1996 Mary-Kate and Ashley filmed their first and so far only feature film It Takes Two . The movie starred Kirstie Alley and Steve Guttenburg. It was a big hit! But Robert Thorne had other plans for Mary-Kate and Ashley. In 1997 he produced three new videos of Mary-Kate and Ashleys on-going series of videos "Your invited to Mary-Kate and Ashley's" The films were titled Our Music Videos, and Your invited to Mary-Kate and Ashleys Birthday Party/Christmas Party.

Their series went on till the year 2000 when they released their very last video in the series "Your invited to Mary-Kate and Ashley's School Dance Party"(SDP) between then and up till SDP they very busy girls released many straight-to-video movies and a sitcom. Those were "Billboard Dad," Passport To Paris" , "Switching Goals" and Two Of A Kind. In the year 2000 came a big-hit movie "Our Lips Are Sealed"(OLAS) . OLAS made Amazon.coms bestsellers list! Soon after in 2001 they released a new m ovie "Winning London" (WL) . WL is the second movie where Mary-Kate and Ashley kissed the co-star boys! The first was PTP. This movie attacted a more grown-up audience and woke up many lost fans. The older role they played shocked some and made some people mad, but it was a way of saying Hey were growing up now and we'd like to gain a larger audience.

The success of the movies brought on many more Mary-Kate and Ashley products like computer and video games.

'Gotta be fashionable!'

After receiving many a question as to where they get their clothes from, the Mary-Kate and Ashley clothing line was released in Wal*Mart stores. The line has been a hit and is set to come to countries such as Canada, the UK, Australia, Mexico and New Zealand. Its set to arrive in many more countries by the end of the 2003

A couple of Mary-Kate and Ashley entertainment stores have been opened in the states, these stores sport pretty much everything 'mary-kate and ashley' you can get!

Real life Dolls

A deal with Matel, and their are now Olsen twin dolls (Curl and Style, Winning London, Sweet 16, the list is tremendous)! Second only to Barbie in popularity (and some months surpassing) The dolls are extremely popular.

So much to do, So Little Time!

The girls returned to television in 2001, with their new tv series So Little Time. They play twin sisters Riley and Chloe Carlson. The series was a major hit and got the twins some recognition, Mary-Kate was nominated for a daytime emmy, unfortuntaely she didn't win. SLT however was sadly cancelled after two seasons, As the girls wanted to pursue a career on the big screen. With a deal with Warner Bros this dream is about to be realized!

Three more straight to video movies were released in late 2001 and 2002 , Holiday in the sun (hits) filmed on location in the Bahamas, and Getting there: Sweet 16 and licensed to drive (GT), and When in Rome (WIR). There is one more straight to video film, 'The Challenge' that will be released in November 2003, plus the girls are currently filming their big screen movie 'New York Minute' which also stars Eugene Levy, Riley Smith, Jared Padelecki and Jack Osbourne

What's next?

With dualstar set to gross 2 billion in the year 2003, having just celebrated their 17th birthday, their first feature film in 8 years to be released in 2004 the girls are set to storm the world!
