Horror remake “Silent House”, which premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and stars hot breakout star Elizabeth Olsen, has been set for a March 9, 2012 release. Surely filmmakers are hoping that date will be coming on the heels of a good night for Olsen at the Oscars, where she is favored to be nominated for a Best Actress statue for her truly revelatory turn in another Sundance debut, “Martha Marcy May Marlene.” In “Silent House”, Olsen will be menaced in a very different way, by ghosts! A remake of the Uruguayan horror “La casa muda,” the film was shot in one long extremely long take, with the camera often positioned within an inch of Olsen’s frightened face. |

Brady Corbet, who counts Evan Rachel Wood and Naomi Watts as some of his former leading ladies (from "Thirteen" and "Funny Games"), was also impressed with his new co-star. "I don't think people were serious about giving her a chance," he said, "and then when they saw it, they realized she's a hell of an actor. And she's a good girl, really grounded, doesn't give a shit - in the best sense of the word. She's not above anyone." Well, except the actresses she's leaping above in the rankings. Said her "MMMM" director Sean Durkin, "She deserves all the attention she gets." Source |

Rising star Elizabeth Olsen is not only getting all types of awards-season buzz for her breakout role in the indie drama Martha Marcy May Marlene, but she can also say she's locked lips with...Chace Crawford! The Gossip Girl hottie was Olsen's first onscreen kiss in the upcoming dramedy Peace, Love and Misunderstanding. "He's like the master of it with Gossip Girl—they make out with each other all the time," Olsen told me the other day while promoting Martha (in theaters today). "I felt like I was in good hands, because I didn't know what the rules are when you kiss someone. You don't, well...I think it's a good rule that you don't use tongue." Read the full article |

The path for "Martha Marcy May Marlene" began way back at the Sundance Film Fesival in January. In the cold chill of Park City, Utah, a dark yarn bewitched audiences and a breakout actress was announced to the world. It might have been a bit of déjà vu for actor John Hawkes. Just 12 months prior, the same narrative was being spun out of the festival. "I was thinking, 'Wow, this is so odd,'" he says. "'In less than two years I'm working with two young women who are extremely talented and dedicated and smart and have a very healthy approach to their work, and an effective one." Olsen has been on Hollywood’s radar big time since Sundance last year when Martha Marcy May Marlene first debuted. We checked out the movie last weekend and can tell you Elizabeth, or Lizzie as friends call her, is worth the hype. She gave a truly amazing performance. Despite the very intense nature of the flick, Olsen told us last night she really is a goofball in real life: “I’m a very lighthearted person by nature,” Lizzie told us. “I definitely had to embrace that while shooting [Martha Marcy]. I would go crazy if at the end of the day filming I wasn’t able to somewhat separate the two.” Read the full article here |
